Help and support New Updates: (January 26, 2026) - UPDATE: “Login changes! As of October 3, 2025, a new sign-in process is available to Petrinex users. To ease the transition to the new method of logging in, Petrinex conntinues to support the existing login process until the end of February, 2026. However, we encourage users to use the new login process as soon as possible.
- Reminder: Users transitioned to the new AAO authentication can easily switch between BA accounts using new “Switch Accounts" fuctinality, by clicking on their username to display a listing of their BA Accounts associated with their e-mail address.
A communication strategy continues to help industry USAs prepare their Business Associate (BA) users for the upcoming authentication process. BA USA's and BA users should refer to the [Petrinex Industry BA Access Guide], updated January 8, 2026 for instructions on: - setting up an Alberta Account for Organizations
- AAO Admin enabling users or inviting them to join the AAO Account
- Note: when creating a user AAO Account the first name, last name and email MUST match the contact information in the users' Petrinex profile.
- steps for the AAO Admin to approve requests to join the AAO Account
- User signing into Petrinex for the first time using the new AAO authentication log in based on the option selected by the AAO admin to add users
- Note: If you receive a notification advising that you do not have authorization and to contact your User Security Administrator, this means that there is a mis-match of the contact information between your Petrinex profile and your AAO account profile and your User Security Administrator will be required to make the necessary changes.
- signing into Petrinex go-forward
- resetting your password
This information page will be updated regularly with new updates and information as we move towards the end of Febriuary 2026 retirement of the legacy system which will no longer be available. Click here for "Frequently Asked Questions". .For any questions related to this project, please contact: petrinexsupport@petrinex.ca Why is this changing? This transition aligns with a broader directive from Government of Alberta (GOA) Cybersecurity, which aims to unify identity management across Alberta's online services. What is changing?
Petrinex is updating its authentication process. All Business Associate Users must be transitioned to a new Alberta Account for Organization authentication and provided access to this AAO account to sign in using existing identity providers instead of Petrinex-managed credentials. Petrinex will use the e-mail address configured by Petrinex User Security Administrators (USA) to identify and match user accounts.
Reminder: With the new system, users can easily switch between accounts associated with their e-mail address using a new “Switch Accounts" screen meaning fewer usernames and passwords for users to manage, resulting in a simpler and more secure login experience.
New Petrinex Login Page To support the transition to the new petrinex authentication process, we've added a preview of the upcoming login page below. This new sign-in method will use Alberta Accounts for Organizations (AAO). Industry users should use the login link with the Petrinex Logo. The current sign in method—using Jurisdiction, BAID, User ID, and Password—will remain available until the end of February, 2026. This transition period is designed to give AB, BC, SK and MB industry and Ministry end-users time to configure their Alberta Account for Organizations setups.
There are no changes to the user-facing authorization features in Petrinex, nor to how company USAs assign roles to accounts.
📌 Action Required:
Please contact your USA to confirm your BA's transition status and ensure your organization is ready ahead of the end of February, 2026 deadlne.
